This year Olha from Sense of Moment, a wedding planner who I've admired for quite awhile, reached out about a photoshoot at a private Manhattan club right around the corner from Central Park and St. Patrick's Cathedral. We don't do a lot of Manhattan, private club weddings, so normally this would not be the type of shoot that would catch my eye. But Olha has such a beautiful sense of design and such an incredible eye for detail that it almost didn't even matter what the location was. With Olha planning, I knew it would be stunning! She brings her European upbringing and her years of experience to everything she does, and in the middle of Manhattan she created a little slice of France. This Parisian-inspired spring wedding shoot at the 3 West Club was a dream to work on.
There was a theme of textured neutrals that ran throughout like with these linen and wood chairs from RentQuest made me feel as if we were sitting at the courtyard of an old, elegant Provence home that had just the perfect amount of patina. I used a bit of pampas grass in the bouquet, centerpiece, and fireplace installation to play off that theme of texture as well.
The color palette also included accents of yellow and pink to connect with the gold and blush details of the place settings from Durant Party Rentals and linens from BBJ Linens. There's nothing I love more than a subtle and intelligent use of color sprinkled in. Every tone repeated in a way that felt cohesive without ever being obvious -- from the candlesticks to the teacup pattern; from the table runner to the Silk & Willow ribbons.
Macaron & White provided the paper goods, and I cannot tell you what a treat it is to work with Nicole, the founder. She thinks through every single detail. Just look how seamless the wax seal, the envelope liner, and the vintage stamps all fit with the invitations and calligraphy. She's currently working on a collection of semi-custom invitation suites inspired by famous locations around New York, and I cannot wait to see the final designs.
If you follow along with Three Notch on Instagram, I know you've heard me say this before, but I love a good fireplace floral installation! The mantels are the perfect place to anchor flowers that "grow" around the architecture of the room. I think it makes a big impact in real weddings, not just photo shoots, to pick a focal point of the room and emphasize that point.
Look at that view from the 3 West Club! The iconic spires of St. Patrick's Cathedral rise just beyond its balconies. It would be such a treat to have a cocktail hour on this balcony and take in the city from high above the bustle on the streets.
All of these photos were taken by Vivian N. Photos. You would never know from the photos that the light was a bit tricky because she's a master at her craft. I'm so happy to finally have had the chance to share her images with you! The entire list of vendors who worked on this project follows:
